Need about 600 more skill points please...
4 lvl 20 PvE chars wanna try out another secondary profession. The only choice is to delete the characters and restart what a situation.
Example, a lvl 20 E with 2 classes unlocked wants to try a third, Ranger secondary as profession. Changes in desert, gets 2 skills by default. Has 2 skill points, needs 15 skill points. Kinda short eh??? What about the other secondaries? I'm about oh 150 skill points short per character of being able to switch secondaries in PvE, yet I have most primaries unlocked. So....delete hundreds of hours of work to try a secondary on a fully unlocked character?? |

Best bet is to load up on scrolls and do UW/FoW runs. They lowered the xp needed to get new skill points to somewhere around 15k now, so it shouldn't be that hard (boring, but it beats making a new characters) to grab a few with scrolls up.

Can u narrow that range a bit, and skill points, not exp points.
I'm guessing 2 is a good run, so three runs I can buy a few skills. How long does a 2 skill point run take in UW/Fow?? |

you start all new classes from desert back at ascalon to get your 4 or so skills per attribute.

Yea I'm aware there's several quests dedicated to each profession near ascalon. This gives you the pre sear skills.
Other advanced skills you must buy from trainer if you've already done the primary quest. |

You don't just get pre-searing skills from the ascalon & Northern Shiverpeaks quest's. Yes you can get the basic skills - but you also get a small selection of skills not available in pre-searing.
Like doing the Ranger quest's for Master Ranger Nemtre will net you Hunter's Shot, which is not a skill you get in pre-searing. In fact you can pick up quite a few skills per class in the Ascalon region as well as in Yak's Bend & Traveller's Vale. These are skills not available in pre-searing and come from class specific quest's. If you refuse to do those quest's and waste skill point's getting those skills.. thats your problem. Take Monk's for example. Two quest's they can do is Replacement Healers & The WayWard Monk quest's.. I believe these are monk specific.. and will net you 5 Monk skills.. Vigorous Spirit, Pacifism, Divine Boon, Infuse Health & Strength of Honor. None of these are pre-searing skills.. and all 5 are easy to get via these quests.. and I do believe these quest's are only offered as Monk primary/secondary... Thus if you waste skill points getting those 5 skills.. your a bloody idiot mate. Last edited by Kamatsu; Oct 13, 2005 at 06:57 AM // 06:57.. |

Everytime you "level up", you get a new skill point. At 10k per quest it doesnt take long at all. |

You are a "skill" packrat...
You don't NEED 150skill points. All you need are a few skill points to augment a build using a few secondary skills... If you have THAT much time to lvl up 4 lvl 20 pve characters, then you shouldn't be complaining... I have 2 lvl 20s and each of them have 25 skill points to spare. Funny thing is, my W/N unlocked every single skill 'cept elites... I only get skills when I desperately need them. The majority I WIN through skill quests... Your complaint is unfounded and for me, in my opinion, whining... |

It's only half that number, 150 is for two professions. I don't know if this is that much good news, your still talking 70 something skill points.
And Yukito, it's a slim majority. You have to buy about half your skills for any profession. That's skills and elites, btw. I do agree, you don't need them all. |

The real problem nowadays isnt so much getting the requisite experience to garner the skill points, it's being able to afford to buy them.
With UW, FoW, SF, and some of the late game missions, I would expect that most characters have more skill points then they can use after a period of time. It does sting when you switch to a new secondary and spend 20-40k on skills at Ember. I also agree that at least at first, one should be selective as to which skills to purchase. If you are aiming at a complete account unlock in a short period of time....well....it's going to cost you. |

it costs a total of just under 9 plat for your first 20 skills. From #21 on it's 1 plat per skill.

I agree that you don't need every skill. On the other hand if you have completed everything and don't care for PvP then why not try to collect all of the skills (assuming you are still enjoying the game).
I figure I will get the skills I want in all of the secondaries and then see where I am at. I could see eventually trying to unlock all of the skills but I don't see any reason to be in a rush. And as stated earlier in the thread you definately should do all of the class specific quests before buying anything. Since the quests stop at Yak's Bend you can probably solo all of them in a couple of hours. This will net you some decent skills for your secondaries at no cost and then you can pick up the ones you want to try out over time. |

I would like to unlock every skill of a third secondary, but the skill points are lacking. Who wants to grind out 25 skill points in UW?

I was a W/R before, now I am W/N for plague touch.
I had every ranger and warrior skill unlocked by the hell's precipice mission. That's when I changed secondaries. It took me about 10 hours or so to get the necessary skills for necromancer secondary. I have some still left to buy (not unlock, buy - I have everything unlocked). The point is, what secodnary skills advance your SPECIFIC build. i.e. if you are a w/mo, why bother buying something like healing touch, divine boon, etc. If you are a warrior, all the primary attribute skills usually aren't advsiable unless they don't vary according to te attribute level (which is uncommon). |
